A moment of

salutary wavering

Sometimes people are surprised that, in all appearances, I am so easy-going on the "New Age" or that what I say is not confined to expressing the rigorous principles and dogma of non-duality.

I can see that, when listening to what I say or reading what I write, some seekers experience a moment of wavering and slip ‘n slide a little in their reference system, in which case they look around for arguments to justify their rejection or, where the friendliest are concerned, to couple me to their reassuring wagon train.

Everything’s fine. An insidious confinement in luminous attire has been unearthed. I’m not responsible for this, but I’m happy to be the instrument which brings it about. This moment of wavering is salutary because the "seeker of beaten tracks" has crystallized his knowledge to make it the earth which lines his path. He’s afraid of the void. And this instrument when everything is freeze-framed can potentially alert him to his reassuring prison. At the very moment he’s slipping ‘n sliding, a really non-dual space reveals itself outside his sophisticated thoughts, outside his safeguards staked around his terror of being.

Someone said to me the other day that I must correct this attitude and certain texts or links on my site which seemed to "perpetuate a confusion", and that I should "keep my distance" from certain principles which I was apparently not denouncing. But what I say cannot be the source of any confusion whatsoever that doesn’t already exist in the person I’m speaking to or writing for, just as I have no intention of "keeping my distance" from anything whatsoever.

I invite everyone, at the heart of their turmoil, rejection or confusion, to discover that they are more likely to be in contact with a primal fear that they had dressed up in traditional clothing. It’s true that I can’t align myself to their demand, for I’m not expressing myself to comfort seekers in their certainties or their security systems. But I can most certainly call out to them if they try to flee from this moment of revelation.

A "non-duality" which is afraid of everything and nothing, which I can sometimes discern in the eyes of those I’m talking to, more so than in their words, would be a mascarade. A cerebral wisdom that nourishes suspicion, intellectualization and fear is not worth a look, even less a book or a conversation.

The ploys of the spiritual ego are eternal. Those who have taken over non-duality have not invented them.

There is much more to let go of than to hold on to and the living space into which you are invited will indicate better than these words to what extent certain things are not really worth lingering over for any longer than it takes to make this clear...
